3 Thing To Do This Spring in Silver Lake Sand Dunes

Headed to Silver Lake Sand Dunes this spring? Though often overlooked, spring is the perfect season to visit the Sand Dunes and the surrounding community of Hart.

There’s so much to do, yet lines are shorter, beaches are less crowded, and the weather is cool and breezy instead of the sweltering hot as it can be in summer.

From the beauty and majesty of the Silver Lake Sand Dunes to peaceful hiking and downtown shopping, be sure to put these “to-dos” on your schedule this spring!

1. Hit the trails this Spring!

Parks & Trails are plentiful in Oceana County. From the shores of Lake Michigan,to the hills and forests inland, there’s always a new corner of nature to explore and discover.

Not only is Oceana County home to one of the most prized paved trails (the Hart-Montague Bike Trail, clocking in at a whopping 22 miles of paved trail heaven), but we’re also in a place where lush woods, far-reaching fields, and gently rushing streams and rivers flourish. The area is teeming with burgeoning nature, and there’s no better time to see it come to life than in the spring. Enjoy the spring weather with hiking one of the many hiking trails in the area. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful walk among beautiful rivers or a more adventurous trek through awakening forests, the region offers something for every outdoor enthusiast.

2. Chilly weather? Visit the shops!

With close proximity to Lake Michigan, it’s not uncommon for a few chilly days to hang around each spring as well. Fortunately, there’s still plenty of fun to be had!

We recommend taking a trip into downtown Hart where unique shopping and restaurants abound. Find an array of gifts, accessories and even vintage steals.

Once you’ve shopped till you’ve dropped, enjoy an authentic Mexican meal at La Fiesta or La Probadita. Or, get a pizza or two from Hart Pizza.

Just a short drive from the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, Pentwater offers a charming downtown filled with unique shops and local treasures. Browse gifts, toys, clothing, and more as you wander through its welcoming storefronts.

After you’ve explored the shops, treat yourself to a meal at one of Pentwater’s cozy local restaurants. Whether you’re craving a burger or fresh fish, you’ll find plenty of tasty options to round out your visit.

3. Spend time on the uncrowded Dunes.

No list of Silver Lake to-dos would be complete without the Dunes. Opening on April 1st, the Silver Lake Sand Dunes boast the most this area has to offer from hiking trails and a sandy beach to rolling sand hills that are perfect for a wild ride on your ORV.

Spring is the ideal time to visit the great sand mountains as summer visitors haven’t yet visited and the Dunes are less crowded. You can enjoy the peace and cooler weather while experiencing the splendor of the Silver Lake Sand Dunes on your own terms. This is also a great time to walk the pedestrian side of the Sand Dunes and enjoy a peaceful sunset over of the sand dunes.
