Mears State Park

Located in the quaint village of Pentwater along Lake Michigan shoreline. Enjoy this very popular sandy beach! Facilities include swimming area, picnic tables, children’s play area, and restrooms. Located off Lowell Street.

 

Benona Township Park

Also known as the Stony Lake Oval, it is where the Stony Lake channel joins Lake Michigan. Good for swimming and fishing. An excellent spot for families. Take Garfield Rd. west off B-15 at Stony Lake.

 

Cedar Point County Park

Cedar Point is a great place for spending the afternoon at the beach. The 3-acre park provides swimming, a picnic area and restrooms. Spectacular multi-tiered wooden steps lead visitors from the high bank bluff above, through the forest canopy, to the beach below. Located along the shore of Lake Michigan between Silver Lake and Pentwater off B-15.

 

Claybanks Township Park

If you enjoy a natural setting with unspoiled views of the Lake Michigan shoreline, this is the beach for you. A wooden walkway leads you to one of the most spectacular Lake Michigan beaches in the area. The park extends one-half mile along the shoreline, but the undeveloped views extend to the north and south as far as the eye can see. Just off B-15, two miles south of Stony Lake. A day pass is needed to use this beach area and can be purchased at the site.

 

Golden Township Park

Beach area located where the Silver Creek channel meets Lake Michigan. Facilities include portable restrooms. Parking is very limited so arrive early or plan on walking from the Lighthouse beach parking lot. Do not park along the road, or you will be towed away. Located off Silver Lake Road 1/4 mile north of the Lighthouse.

 

Little Sable Point Lighthouse

Whether you come during the day for sunning and swimming or at night for the best sunset location in the county – you won’t be disappointed with this beach. The beautiful red brick lighthouse built in the late 1870’s is a must see. Large parking area and restroom facilities are available. The walk out to the beach involves some dune crossing and climbing. The Lighthouse is part of Silver Lake State Park. Located 1/2 mile south of Golden Township Park.

 

Silver Lake State Park

Located across the lake from the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, this park is all about location. Facilities include 450 campground sites a large beach area for swimming, a boat launch, picnic tables, fishing, hiking, and restroom facilities. A recreation passport is needed to use this beach area and can be purchased at the campground registration booth. Located off Silver Lake Road 1/2 mile west of downtown Silver Lake.

 

Silver Lake Sand Dunes

The pedestrian area of the sand dunes offers you excellent beach options both on Silver Lake and Lake Michigan. It’s also provides great exercise to get to the beach as you need to hike over the dunes! Perfect place for feeling the sand between your toes and enjoying the tranquility of the sand dunes behind you. A recreation passport is needed to park your vehicle at the pedestrian entrance for the Silver Lake Sand Dunes.

Duck Lake State Park

This scenic state park, near Michillinda and Nestrom Roads, Duck Lake has a shallow channel leading to Lake Michigan. Hiking, skiing trails and a picnic area stretch from the northern shore of Duck Lake to Lake Michigan.

Lake Harbor Park

A 189-acre park on the Mona Lake Channel leading to the shore of Lake Michigan. The park features almost a mile of Lake Michigan beach and hiking trails through the dunes.

Meinert County Park

Park an expansive beach and rolling dunes. The park also provides scenic overlooks with spectacular views of Little Flower Creek and the Lake Michigan shoreline.

Moore County Park

Park offers 1,500-foot shoreline on Half Moon Lake as well as 36 acres of hills, woodlands, wetlands and grassy open areas. This lake is a popular attraction for fishing, boating, swimming, and picnicking.

Muskegon State Park

Muskegon State Park is home three miles of breathtaking shoreline (two miles along Lake Michigan and one mile on Muskegon Lake), Snug Harbor, forested dunes, two campgrounds, picnic areas, multiple trails and an overlook.

Norman F. Kruse Park

Just south of Pere Marquette Park sits Kruse Park, one of the most famous dog beaches in Michigan. A ramp to the beach and into the dunes allows barrier-free access.

P.J. Hoffmaster State Park

Park features three miles of Lake Michigan shoreline with forest-covered dunes, campgrounds nestled in the woods, and scenic hiking trails. The Gillette Nature Center features exhibits on dune ecology and the flora and fauna of the Lake Michigan sand dunes.

Pere Marquette Park

This city park offers a wide expanse of sugar-sand beach along Lake Michigan Shoreline, bordered on the North by the Muskegon Channel.

Pioneer County Park

Located along beautiful Scenic Drive between North Muskegon and Whitehall, Pioneer Park boasts over 2,000 feet of Lake Michigan beach frontage.

Ross Park

Ross Park is a 43-acre park featuring a sandy beach area, play equipment, picnic area, a disc golf course, and volleyball area. Lighted, slow-pitch softball fields are available.

Twin Lake County Park

Enjoy 800 feet of Lake Frontage on Twin Lake. This beach area is popular for picnicking and swimming.

Enjoy nearly 600 feet of water frontage along the southeast shore of Big Blue Lake. This 25-acre park is the perfect place for fishing, boating, water-skiing and camping.

Dune Harbor Park Muskegon County

Explore over 2 miles of trails through forested dunes. This 214 Acre park contains many native plants and species, making it a favorite for birders. An inland lake offers kayaking, paddle sports, and fishing. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on leash Hours: Dawn to Dusk. Parking and porta-potties available on site.

Grand Haven State Park

Michigan’s #1 State Park and AAA’s preferred beach for Michigan. A popular destination for camping, fishing, sunbathing, volleyball and swimming. This 48-acre park is located on the beautiful sandy shore of Lake Michigan. The park consists entirely of beach sand and provides scenic views of Lake Michigan and the Grand Haven pier and lighthouse.

 

North Beach

This popular 7 acre park offers swimming and sunbathing along 745 feet of Lake Michigan shoreline. During the summer, a barrier free beach walkway is available. Visitors can also climb the wooden stairway to the top of a dune for a panoramic view of Lake Michigan. Located 2 miles north of Grand Haven.

 

Grand Haven City Beach

Sandy swimming beach located on Lake Michigan. The city beach is nestled between The Bil-Mar, a beachfront restaurant, and Grand Haven State Park beach on Harbor Drive. Limited free parking is available. No fees or passes required. Leashed dogs are allowed on the VERY South end of the City Beach – South of The Bil-Mar – look for signs.

 

Rosy Mound Natural Area

A classic Great Lakes dune system including high wooded dunes, foredunes, beach and a dune blowout. A 0.7 mile (one way) hiking trail from the parking area to the Lake Michigan shoreline includes 1,000 feet of stairs up and down the dunes and scenic views of woods, the dune blowout and Lake Michigan. A unique shade canopy and dune boardwalk trail.

 

Kirk Park

Sixty-eight acres of sandy beach, high bluffs and wooded dunes along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Covered pavilion, playground, swimming beach, nature hiking trails with scenic wooden stairways leading to dune overlooks. This is a popular park for swimming, sunbathing, picnicking, off-lease dog beach and cross country skiing.

 

Olive Shores

Film location from the movie, “Road to Perdition,” starring Tom Hanks. Mostly wooded 20-acre site that includes a mature beech-maple-hemlock forest, a deep steep dune formation and 740 feet of Lake Michigan frontage.

 

P.J. Hoffmaster State Park

Features over three miles of Lake Michigan shoreline and beaches, 297 site modern campground, towering sand dunes, and the Gillette Sand Dune Visitor Center. Miles of hiking and skiing trails offers stunning views Lake Michigan and subtle beauty at every turn. Located five miles north of Grand Haven.

 

Kouw Park

This 3.7 acre park is located along 200 feet of beachfront on Lake Michigan at the end of Van Buren Road. The park features improved facilities including picnic areas, play equipment, restrooms and parking. Amenities include the Beach, Picnic Area, Playground, Restrooms, and Parking.

 

Lakeside Beach Spring Lake

Located at the northern terminus of Lake Avenue in the Village of Spring Lake, Lakeside Beach was built on the site of the former cross-lake ferry dock. The sandy beach area includes restrooms, a lifeguard, shelters with picnic tables and a deck with benches overlooking Spring Lake.

 

Windsnest Park

Windsnest Park is located on 4 acres of land and provides a sandy beach front on Lake Michigan for the public to enjoy.  The main activities include swimming and picnicking.  The park also provides handicap accessible play equipment, restrooms, and improved parking facilities along with a wooden walkway for a picturesque view of Lake Michigan.

Holland State Park

One of Michigan’s most popular beaches! Walk the Black River Boardwalk that lines the channel from Lake Macatawa to Lake Michigan, sit and watch the boats come and go, cast a line and fish, or take a walk out on the pier to catch the perfect sunset. Looking for a great place to camp? Holland State Park offers both wooded and beach access sites, cabin rentals, and RV hookups. Bring your boat because we even have a boat launch! Enjoy swimming, sunbathing and fishing, with modern accommodations, including a concession stand, restrooms and changing area, and a small playground.

Kouw Park

Looking for something smaller and off the beaten path? This local neighborhood park has a small play area, picnic area, restrooms, and a quiet path that leads down to the waterfront. Bring the kids and let them play on the playground while you set up a picnic for lunch. Enjoy a quiet afternoon on the sand with your beach chair, favorite book, and a cool off swim!

Laketown Beach

Located between Holland and Saugatuck, Laketown Beach offers spectacular views of Lake Michigan from a wooden stairway that climbs up and over the dunes to the beach.  (The stairway helps protect the fragile dune environment.)  Enjoy the inviting sandy Lake Michigan swimming beach and panoramic lake vistas.

Tunnel Park

A picturesque place to watch a sunset, Tunnel Park is named for the concrete tunnel that cuts through a sand dune and provides access to a sparkling Lake Michigan beach. This 22-acre park, with its extensive Lake Michigan beachfront, is a great place for swimming, sunbathing and picnicking. In addition to the unique tunnel through the dune, this park has a children’s playground complete with a dune climb and a dune stairway with scenic views of Lake Michigan. Beach volleyball courts, picnic tables and grills, restrooms, and a great playground make this a very family-friendly beach.
Parking: Tunnel Park is part of the Ottawa County Parks system; there is a per-vehicle parking fee from April 1 to October 31

Oval Beach

Recognized as one of Condé Nast Traveler’s Top 25 Beaches in the World, National Geographic Traveler’s Top Freshwater Beaches in the USA, and MTV’s Top 5 Beaches in the USA , this stunning arc of Lake Michigan is on everybody’s must-see list. With rolling dunes, concessions stands, and picnic areas, it’s a favorite for hanging out with friends, splashing in the waves, or working on your tan.
Parking: $15/day, $75/season. Prices are Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Chain Ferry: $3/person, one way.  Kids 3-10 are $1 and kids under 3, pets, and bikes are free.
Interurban bus: $1 for Adults and Children 12 and over. $.50 for Senior Citizens 62 and older, Children under 12, or persons with disabilities.

 

Douglas Beach

Craving something a little quieter? This cozy neighborhood park has a picnic area, restroom, and a quiet beach lined with trees down at the waterline. Pack a picnic dinner, bring your folding chair, and stay to enjoy the sunset.

Saugatuck Dunes State Park

Immerse yourself in the whole duneland experience with a hike through the sandy woods to amazing overlooks on the 200-foot tall dunes. You can walk, snowshoe, or cross-country ski for miles on the wooded trails or along the shoreline.

Pier Cove Beach

Discover a little piece of our history with this beach, named for the shipping piers that supported the logging and fruit industry in the 1800s. The family-friendly shore features a small creek for wading and smooth stones that are fun to skip in the waves.

Laketown Beach

Escape the hustle and bustle with this quiet beach on the north side of town. If you’re willing to burn a few calories on the long stairway down to the beach—and back up again–you can have a little slice of paradise all to yourself.

West Side County Park

This is the spot for family gatherings, reunions, or playdates with the kids. Pavilions, picnic areas, playgrounds, and restrooms make it easy to entertain, and the boardwalks along the beach offer a gorgeous place to watch the sun set.

Casco Township Nature Preserve

A beautiful preserve along Lake Michigan just north of South Haven. A nice paved path leads from the parking area to the Lake featuring a lookout deck with stunning views. There are very steep stairs down the bluff to the beach. The Preserve also features bathrooms and picnic tables. A great place to enjoy vista views, wildlife, walks, picnics and quiet, natural beauty.

 

Deerlick Creek Beach (South Haven Township Park)

A wonderful secluded park just south of South Haven. The small creek entering Lake Michigan provides a safe water play area for young children.  A compacted stone pathway leads from the parking area to about 100 feet of sandy beach with a slight slope.  One of the few dog-friendly beaches in the area. Free parking with portable toilets.

 

Dyckman Beach

Conveniently located off North Shore Drive, this sandy beach is a favorite within a short walk to several Bed & Breakfast Inns and condominium complexes. Dyckman features a long wooden ADA accessible walkway with lookout from the parking area to the beach and Lake access. No restroom facilities available. $10 per trip parking fee in season (credit card or cash).

 

Newcome Beach

A small and secluded City beach on the north side of town. Stairs lead from the bluff down to the beach area. A great place to start your walk along the Lake Michigan shoreline to the north or south. No restroom facilities, off-street parking only.

 

North Beach

One of our two main amazing City beaches. North Beach is ADA accessible with decking/walkways leading across the beach to the waters-edge. Featuring a huge expansive sandy beach area with over 1000 feet of Lake Michigan frontage, North Beach has a concession stand, picnic area, play equipment, restrooms, and beach volleyball courts. Kayak and paddle board rentals are also available. $10 per trip parking fee in season (credit card or cash).

 

Oak Street Beach

A small but very popular beach for those lodging on the north side of town. Wooden stairs lead from the parking lot down to the beach area. No restroom facilities available. Parking with a beach sticker parking pass only.

 

Packard Park & Beach

This jewel of a park and beach is located directly on Lake Michigan on the north side of town. The park has expansive grassy areas with both sun and shade, along with grills, picnic tables and restroom facilities. A walkway leads to a deck with picnic tables overlooking Lake Michigan and access down to the beach area. $10 per trip parking fee (credit card or cash).

 

Pilgrim Haven Natural Area

This hidden gem is located south of South Haven and is a favorite spot for beach stone hunting. With 27 acres and over 750 feet of Lake frontage, this area features one-third of a mile easy trail access through woods and meadows that leads to Lake Michigan overlooks and barrier-free paved access to the beach. A great place for sunning, swimming, wildlife viewing and hiking. Parking is free, no restroom facilities.

 

South Beach

One of our two main iconic City beaches just south of the Black river channel. This popular beach features a large beach area with a concession stand and souvenir shop, picnic areas, play equipment, restrooms, and access to our historic lighthouse. Kayak and paddle board rentals are also available. Beach is ADA accessible. $10 per trip parking fee in season (credit card or cash).

 

Van Buren State Park

A truly magnificent park located directly on Lake Michigan. With scenic dunes and great vistas, this park is great for biking, hiking, metal detecting and beach rock hunting. The park features a picnic area with shelter, playground, and restrooms. Camping sites are also available. Out of state resident park entry is $11; access for Michigan residents is free with a Recreational Passport or can be purchased for $11 good for the year.

 

Woodman Beach

Another small but popular City beach located close to many lodging options on the north side – between North Beach and Dyckman Beach. Grab a coffee and snack at Bunde’s Bakery Cafe and head down to the shore! $10 per trip parking fee in season.

Silver Beach

Perhaps one of Southwest Michigan’s most popular swimming beaches, Silver Beach County Park stretches 2,450 feet from the mouth of the St. Joseph River to Park Street. Silver Beach is renowned for its clean, wide, soft sandy beach and refreshing freshwater. And it’s walkable from downtown St. Joseph! Access the pier for a beautiful view of Lake Michigan, the mouth of the St. Joseph River, and the North Pier Lighthouse (accessible from Tiscornia Park). It is one of the best places to watch for boats, Great Lakes freighters, and sunsets.

 

Grand Mere State Park

Along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Adjacent to Lincoln Township Park, this 371-acre nature area is a favorite spot for “birders.” As part of the 1,000-acre Grand Mere State Park, Grand Mere Nature Area offers a variety of settings for studying the outdoors, including sand dunes, beach woods, an old lake bed, a hemlock swamp and cranberry bog. Visitors will enjoy hiking or cross-country skiing the trails and observing a variety of native birds and mammals throughout the seasons. Directions: I-94 exit 22, west on Grand Mere Rd, then south 7/10 mile on Thorton Dr. Follow signs.

 

Jean Klock Park

Lake Michigan swimming, paved parking, boardwalk, volleyball courts, observation tower, pavilion, bathhouse, concession area, playground and picnic shelter. Directions: From St Joseph, take M-63 north approx 1 mile. Turn left, follow Klock Rd .2 miles. Turn right, follow Jean Drive .2 miles to park entrance.

 

Lions Park

Located off Exit 27 of I-94 below the bluff in downtown St. Joseph, south on Lions Park Drive. Sheltered pavilions, parking and sidewalks. (No lifeguard on duty). Playground, picnic areas, restrooms and a superb view of St. Joseph’s piers and lighthouse.

 

Rocky Gap Park

Swimming, picnicking and scenic view, three acres along 1100 feet of shoreline. No restrooms or lifeguard on duty. Directions: From St Joseph, take M-63 north approx 2 miles. Turn left, follow Rock Gap Rd to Park .5 miles.

 

Warren Dunes State Park

A summertime favorite, Warren Dunes State Park offers 1,507 acres of dunes and lakefront camping. Open year-round, the park offers camping and hunting in the Fall, cross-country skiing in the Winter, and picnicking, sailboarding, swimming, hiking, and hang-gliding in the Summer. 197 campsites with electricity, hot and cold running water, showers, bathrooms and fire circles make the park ideal for family camping. Children will enjoy the variety of playground equipment and the organizational youth area for 150 people. Directions: I-94 Exit 16, three miles southeast of Bridgman on Red Arrow Hwy.

 

Weko Beach

Weko Beach features a modern beach house with concessions stand, camping, changing areas, restrooms, a cold outdoor shower, a boat launch directly into Lake Michigan and volleyball nets. There is also a beautiful boardwalk, two dune overlooks and the playing of ‘Taps’ at dusk on summer evenings. Leashed pets allowed only in campground. We take reservations on cabins only, entrance fee required. Directions: Located off Exit 16 of I-94, then north on Red Arrow Highway and west on Lake Street in Bridgman.
