Oval Beach
Recognized as one of Condé Nast Traveler’s Top 25 Beaches in the World, National Geographic Traveler’s Top Freshwater Beaches in the USA, and MTV’s Top 5 Beaches in the USA , this stunning arc of Lake Michigan is on everybody’s must-see list. With rolling dunes, concessions stands, and picnic areas, it’s a favorite for hanging out with friends, splashing in the waves, or working on your tan.
Parking: $15/day, $75/season. Prices are Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Chain Ferry: $3/person, one way. Kids 3-10 are $1 and kids under 3, pets, and bikes are free.
Interurban bus: $1 for Adults and Children 12 and over. $.50 for Senior Citizens 62 and older, Children under 12, or persons with disabilities.
Douglas Beach
Craving something a little quieter? This cozy neighborhood park has a picnic area, restroom, and a quiet beach lined with trees down at the waterline. Pack a picnic dinner, bring your folding chair, and stay to enjoy the sunset.
Parking: Very limited, free.
Saugatuck Dunes State Park
Immerse yourself in the whole duneland experience with a hike through the sandy woods to amazing overlooks on the 200-foot tall dunes. You can walk, snowshoe, or cross-country ski for miles on the wooded trails or along the shoreline.
Parking: State park permit or day use fee required.
Pier Cove Beach
Discover a little piece of our history with this beach, named for the shipping piers that supported the logging and fruit industry in the 1800s. The family-friendly shore features a small creek for wading and smooth stones that are fun to skip in the waves.

Laketown Beach
Escape the hustle and bustle with this quiet beach on the north side of town. If you’re willing to burn a few calories on the long stairway down to the beach—and back up again–you can have a little slice of paradise all to yourself.

West Side County Park
This is the spot for family gatherings, reunions, or playdates with the kids. Pavilions, picnic areas, playgrounds, and restrooms make it easy to entertain, and the boardwalks along the beach offer a gorgeous place to watch the sun set.
